Matt works within LM+Co’s Performance Improvement Practice. He has more than 15 years’ experience leading manufacturing and operational change to execute strategy and create quantifiable improvements to the bottom line.
Launching his career as a Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy, Matt led more than 100 sailors in wartime, as well as directing complex multinational exercises, and was consistently rated as first in his grade across two tours of duty. After leaving the Navy, Matt transitioned to a role leading the production line for the small forklift division at Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America (MCFA), where he reduced overtime to nearly zero while maintaining quality and throughput targets. One year later, he was selected to lead Logistics and Transportation for MCFA. In this position, Matt implemented various cost reduction and technology improvements, including a flat rate shipping program which created a nearly $1 million improvement in annual EBITDA while increasing service to dealers and simplifying the freight invoicing processes.
While pursuing his MBA at The University of Texas, Matt took a position leading the construction project for a $35 million heat treating and machining facility for Energy Alloys, an oilfield steel distributor. Once the plant was operational, he transitioned to develop and lead the Corporate Planning and Development function, reporting to the CFO. In concert with information technology, his team completed multiple cross-functional supply chain, financial and manufacturing process improvement projects and led corporate strategy formulation and execution.
Since transitioning to consulting, Matt has spent time at various manufacturing and logistics companies focused on supply chain network design, inventory reduction, manufacturing process improvement and information technology implementation. He has also conducted numerous buy and sell side diligences for LM+Co’s PE clients.
Matt received a Master of Business Administration from the The University of Texas at Austin’s McComb’s School of Business, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt with extensive APICS, Lean Manufacturing and 5S training.
